Activities - Students are required to participate in:

It is strongly recommended that you attend all of the Monday night lectures/group meetings

 

Optional Activities (strongly recommended)

Rocky Butte- HIGHLY recommended precursor to Horsethief Butte Field session.

Overnight on the Mountain (Mazama Lodge) – good practice for a Hood climb

Hike on Mt Defiance Sat May 3 – Because it is there

 

Be prepared for hikes

Gateway P&R is at: 1321 NE 99th Ave, Portland, OR - Parking garage is entered from either the north or the south.  Meet at the SE corner of the garage on the ground floor.  Parking is free, but cars should not be left here overnight.  Be aware that many different groups meet here for carpools on weekend mornings.

Meet and be ready to drive away from carpooling site at 7:30 a.m.(or as noted)

Hike “Gear” = hiking boots, NO COTTON clothing, 10 essentials, backpack, money for gas if carpooling, at least 2 liters of water, food, treats to share with group.

 

Be prepared for field sessions

See Basic School Manual for equipment required

Show up on time! If you miss the bus you will have to drive yourself (may be difficult to find us at the field session location)

If you have to miss our field session make arrangements to attend one with another group.  We can provide you with information on how to make this arrangement.
